Universal remote codes for LG TVs
The short answer
Which codes you need depends on the remote in your hand, not just on the television. This page lists every verified code we hold for LG TVs, grouped by the remote that uses them — One For All's published Contour TV list and Jasco's four GE code-list versions. Find your remote below and work down its codes in order.
LG is the brand where people most often look for a code when they do not need one. The Magic Remote pairs over Bluetooth and points with a gyroscope; codes only come into it when a universal remote is replacing it.
If your remote is neither a One For All Contour TV nor a GE remote, the codes on this page will not program it — every manufacturer indexes its own table. Use the search method instead, which needs no list: it walks the remote's own codes until the television responds.

Codes are only meaningful to the remote whose table they come from. A GE code will not program a One For All remote and vice versa, and GE's own four versions — CL3 to CL6, printed inside the battery compartment — are not interchangeable with each other either. Always use the block that names your remote.

Every LG TV code on this page
All 30 unique codes, shortest first. Useful if your remote is not listed above — most remotes share large parts of their tables, so a code from a neighbouring brand is often worth a try.
Magic Remote pairing is not code entry
Point the Magic Remote at the television and hold the wheel (OK) button for about five seconds until the set confirms the pairing on screen. There is no code, and no code list will help — the link is Bluetooth.
A universal remote replacing a lost Magic Remote controls power, volume, channels, input and the arrow keys, but cannot move the on-screen pointer. webOS is fully navigable with the four arrows and OK, so this is a limitation rather than a blocker.
SIMPLINK can make a correct code look wrong
SIMPLINK is LG's HDMI-CEC layer. With it enabled, pressing POWER can switch off a connected soundbar or console as well as the television, or switch the input rather than the power state — behaviour that reads as a wrong code while you are pairing.
Turn SIMPLINK off in Settings → General → SIMPLINK while you program the remote, then turn it back on.
Test with the input key, not power
Power is carried by nearly every code in a family, so a set that switches off tells you very little. The input key is the discriminator: an exact match opens the webOS input carousel, a near match does nothing.
Use INPUT to decide whether to keep a code or move to the next one in the list.
When it doesn't work
Power works, the input key does not
You are on a neighbouring code. Move to the next LG entry in the list and test with INPUT again — the codes are ordered, so the next one is the best bet.
The TV reacts erratically or double-triggers
Two infrared sources are reaching the set: usually the original remote face-down with a key held, or a soundbar with infrared pass-through. Remove each candidate in turn.
The Magic Remote will not pair
Hold the wheel button for a full five seconds while pointing at the set. If nothing happens, the remote may need re-registering from the television's own settings menu rather than a code.
Still nothing? Work through the full diagnostic — it starts by proving whether the remote transmits at all.
Troubleshooting guideLG TV remote code FAQs
What is the universal remote code for an LG TV?
On a One For All Contour TV the published LG codes are 1840, 2182, 1423, 4787, 4119, 0714 and 0556. Other remote brands use their own numbering, which is not interchangeable with these.
How do I pair an LG Magic Remote?
Switch the television on, point the Magic Remote at it and hold the wheel (OK) button for about five seconds. The set confirms on screen. No code is used — the Magic Remote pairs over Bluetooth.
Can a universal remote replace an LG Magic Remote?
For everything except the pointer, yes. Power, volume, channels, input and the arrow keys all work over infrared. The gyroscope pointer and the microphone are Bluetooth features no infrared remote can reproduce.
Why does my LG TV only respond to some buttons?
You have a code from the right family but not the exact one. Test with the input key rather than power, and move to the next LG code in the list.
Do I have to re-enter the code after changing the batteries?
On almost every modern remote, no. Codes are held in non-volatile memory and survive a battery change. If power and volume stop working immediately after a battery swap, re-enter the code — a few older models do lose their programming when left without cells for several minutes.
Where do these codes come from?
From the manufacturers themselves: One For All's published code list for the URC 1210 Contour TV, and Jasco's published lists for GE remotes in versions CL3 to CL6. Each table links its source document. Codes we cannot trace to a manufacturer are not published here at all.
