How to reset LG TV

LG calls its factory reset Reset to Initial Settings. Its location changes with webOS, so check your menu rather than assuming every LG TV uses the same path.

Restart before erasing your setup
- Disconnect the TV's power cable.
- While it is unplugged, hold the physical Power button on the TV for about 10 seconds.
- Reconnect the cable and turn the TV on.

How to factory reset LG TV
Before you confirm
A factory reset removes saved accounts, apps and personal settings from the TV. Have your Wi-Fi password and account sign-in details ready before you confirm it.
webOS 6.0–25 (2021–2025)
Settings → All Settings → General → System → Reset to Initial Settings
- Read the reset choices and confirm the one you need.
On webOS 24/25, Reset All also clears network settings. Reset all except network settings retains the wired/wireless configuration, but still resets the other settings.
webOS 5.0 (2020)
Settings → All Settings → Support → Reset to Initial Settings
- Follow the confirmation prompts.
webOS 4.5 and earlier
Settings → All Settings → General → Reset to Initial Settings
- Confirm when you are ready to erase your setup.
After the reset
Wait for the initial setup screen, then follow it to configure the TV again.
Frequently asked questions
Will Reset All keep my LG TV's Wi-Fi settings?
On webOS 24/25, only the option labelled Reset all except network settings keeps the network configuration. Reset All clears it.
Can I restart my LG TV without deleting apps?
Use the power reset above first. It does not select the factory reset option in webOS.
