The short answer
Which codes you need depends on the remote in your hand, not just on the television. This page lists every verified code we hold for Sony TVs, grouped by the remote that uses them — One For All's published Contour TV list and Jasco's four GE code-list versions. Find your remote below and work down its codes in order.
Sony has one of the shortest brand entries of any major manufacturer in this list. Where Bush runs to thirty-one codes and Hisense to thirteen, Sony needs three.
If your remote is neither a One For All Contour TV nor a GE remote, the codes on this page will not program it — every manufacturer indexes its own table. Use the search method instead, which needs no list: it walks the remote's own codes until the television responds.

Codes are only meaningful to the remote whose table they come from. A GE code will not program a One For All remote and vice versa, and GE's own four versions — CL3 to CL6, printed inside the battery compartment — are not interchangeable with each other either. Always use the block that names your remote.

Why three codes cover the range
Sony has extended its infrared protocol over time rather than replacing it, so the core commands — power, volume, channel, input — have kept their original addresses across many generations of television. A short brand entry in a code list is the visible result of that consistency.
It also means that where a Sony code works at all, it usually works completely. You are less likely to meet the half-working near-match that dominates brands with many overlapping entries.
BRAVIA sets running Google TV
Sony's own remote for Google TV models pairs over Bluetooth for voice search, but the television keeps a full infrared receiver. A universal remote therefore controls power, volume, input and the navigation keys normally.
The microphone key and the dedicated app buttons are Bluetooth-side features. Their absence is not a sign of an incomplete pairing, and no code restores them.
When it doesn't work
All three codes do nothing
Confirm the remote is a One For All Contour TV. These three codes belong to that remote's table and will not program a different manufacturer's handset.
The remote controls the TV and a Sony disc player together
Sony reuses command addresses across its own product lines, so a television code can reach a Sony player beside it. Move the player out of line of sight to confirm, then give it its own device key.
The code is right but volume is stuck
Check whether the set is routing audio to a soundbar over ARC. A BRAVIA passing sound to an external system ignores its own volume commands, which looks like an incomplete code.

What is the universal remote code for a Sony TV?
On a One For All Contour TV the published Sony codes are 2778, 1825 and 4396. That is the complete Sony entry in that list — there is no fourth code to look for.
Why does Sony have so few codes?
Because Sony has extended one infrared protocol rather than replacing it, so the core commands have stayed stable across generations. Brands that changed command sets repeatedly need far longer entries.
Do Sony BRAVIA TVs work with universal remotes?
Yes. Every BRAVIA has an infrared receiver, including Google TV models whose own remote uses Bluetooth for voice. Power, volume, input and navigation all work; voice and app-shortcut keys do not transfer.
Do I have to re-enter the code after changing the batteries?
On almost every modern remote, no. Codes are held in non-volatile memory and survive a battery change. If power and volume stop working immediately after a battery swap, re-enter the code — a few older models do lose their programming when left without cells for several minutes.
