Projector codes
Universal remote codes for projectors
The short answer
Projector codes come from Jasco's published GE lists and are filed under the auxiliary or video device keys rather than TV. Find the CL version inside your remote's battery compartment, then use the matching block below.
Projectors are in some ways the easiest equipment to pair. Most have more than one infrared receiver — commonly one at the front and one at the rear — and a projected image gives an unusually clear signal that a command landed.
What makes them awkward is the power behaviour, which is unlike anything else in a living room and regularly makes a correct code look wrong.
Use the right device key first
Projectors have no standard device key. Jasco lists them under auxiliary and video categories, so try AUX first; some remotes expect the TV key instead.
Projector codes by brand
Find your equipment brand, then the block naming the remote you are programming. Codes are not interchangeable between remote brands.

The power test does not work the way you expect
Most projectors need the power command twice to switch off, as a confirmation step, and then run a cooling cycle during which they ignore every further command including power on. A single press that appears to do nothing, followed by an unresponsive unit, is normal behaviour rather than a wrong code.
Test with the menu or input key instead. Both respond immediately and neither triggers a cooling cycle you then have to wait out.
Two receivers, and one of them is behind you
Ceiling-mounted projectors are usually pointed away from the seating position, but most have a rear infrared receiver precisely for this. If the remote fails from the sofa it is often aim rather than code — try bouncing the signal off the screen, which works surprisingly well.
This is also why projectors tolerate a weak or partly obstructed remote better than televisions do: there is more than one way for the command to arrive.
When it doesn't work
The projector ignores everything after I press power
It is in its cooling cycle, which can run for a minute or more and blocks all commands including power on. Wait for the fan to stop before concluding anything about the code.
Power needs two presses
Normal — most projectors ask for confirmation before shutting down. This is not a sign of a faulty code or a failing remote.
Nothing responds from the seating position
Aim at the screen rather than the projector. The reflected signal reaches the front receiver, and most ceiling-mounted units also have a rear receiver facing the audience.
Still nothing? The full diagnostic starts by proving whether the remote transmits at all.
Troubleshooting guideProjector code FAQs
Which device key do I use for a projector?
There is no standard key. Jasco files projectors under the auxiliary and video categories, so try AUX first; some remotes expect the TV key instead.
Why does my projector need two presses to switch off?
Most projectors ask for confirmation before shutting down, then run a cooling cycle during which they ignore all commands. Both behaviours are normal and neither indicates a wrong code.
How should I test a projector code?
With the menu or input key rather than power. Both respond immediately, and neither starts a cooling cycle you then have to wait out before testing again.
The remote does not work from my sofa — is the code wrong?
Probably not. Aim at the screen instead: the reflected signal reaches the projector's front receiver, and most ceiling-mounted units have a rear receiver facing the seating position too.
