Which universal remote do I have?

The short answer

Look inside the battery compartment. GE prints the code-list version (CL3 to CL6) on a sticker under the batteries or on the battery cover; RCA prints a revision number under the battery; One For All prints the model number on the inside of the battery door. That number decides which code list works.

Code lists are published per remote, so the number that matters is the one the manufacturer uses to look codes up: a version for GE, a revision for RCA, a model number for One For All.

If the label has worn off

On RCA remotes, several revisions publish identical code tables, so a revision from the same group uses the same codes. The RCA code page groups them for you.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the model number on a universal remote?

What does CL3, CL4, CL5 or CL6 mean on a GE remote?

On RCA remotes, press CODE SEARCH or hold the device key, depending on the model. Roku notes that some remotes without a Setup button use TV and Power held together.
