How to make a Firestick remote control your TV

A Fire TV remote can control your TV as well as the Fire TV itself. Amazon calls this Equipment Control, and it's set from the Fire TV's own settings, not from the remote.
01 · Before you start
Check these first
- You need a Fire TV remote with volume and power buttons and an Alexa Voice button, or a Fire TV Cube.

02 · Connect
Step by step, by device
Set up or check TV control
Settings → Equipment Control → Manage Equipment → TV
- Go to Settings from your Fire TV menu.
- Select Equipment Control, then Manage Equipment, then TV.
- Under the Change TV option, check that the displayed TV brand matches your actual TV.

Manage Equipment → TV → Change TV
- In Manage Equipment → TV, select Change TV.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to pick the right TV.

Control the TV by voice
Alexa Voice button → a command such as "Turn off the TV"
- Press the Alexa Voice button on the remote.
- Say a command such as "Turn up the volume" or "Turn off the TV".
Amazon says Equipment Control works with compatible TVs, A/V receivers and soundbars.
If it still won't connect
If the volume, power or mute buttons stop working, open Settings → Equipment Control → Manage Equipment → TV and check the TV brand shown matches your TV. If it doesn't, select Change TV and follow the on-screen instructions.
