How to connect a Firestick to Wi-Fi

A Fire TV Stick asks for Wi-Fi when you first set it up. Later, you change or re-enter the network from Settings → Network.
01 · Before you start
Check these first
- Have your Wi-Fi network name and password ready.
- Plug the Fire TV Stick into an HDMI port on the TV and connect it to power.
02 · Connect
Step by step, by device
During setup: scan the QR code
Scan the on-screen QR code with your phone
- When setup asks you to connect to Wi-Fi, scan the QR code on the TV screen with your phone.
- Your phone sets up the Wi-Fi connection automatically.
During setup: use the remote
Follow the on-screen Wi-Fi steps with the Fire TV remote
- Use the Fire TV remote to follow the on-screen instructions to set up the Wi-Fi connection manually.
After setup: forget and reconnect a network
Settings → Network → network name → Menu → forget → re-enter password
- Go to Settings → Network and find your network name.
- Press the Menu button on the remote, then Select/OK to forget the network.
- Select the network again and re-enter your Wi-Fi password.

Turn Wi-Fi off and on
Settings → Network → Wi-Fi
- Go to Settings → Network and select Wi-Fi to turn it off.
- Select Wi-Fi again to turn it back on.

If it still won't connect
If you see an Unable to Connect message, select Network Diagnostics and follow its recommendations. Then unplug the Fire TV from power, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. If it still won't connect, unplug the modem and router for 1 minute; plug in the modem first and wait about a minute for its lights, then the router, and wait about a minute again.
