How to reset Roku TV

Sources checked · how we check

Use these steps for a television with Roku built in. A Roku player connected by HDMI is a separate device; resetting it does not reset the television.

01 · Start here

Restart before erasing your setup

  1. From Home, open Settings → System → Power → System restart.
  2. Choose Restart. If your menu has no Power section, look for System restart directly under System.

How to factory reset Roku TV

Before you confirm

A factory reset removes saved accounts, apps and personal settings from the TV. Have your Wi-Fi password and account sign-in details ready before you confirm it.

Roku TV on-screen menu

Settings → System → Advanced system settings → Factory reset → Factory reset everything

  1. Enter the confirmation code displayed on your screen and follow the prompts.

Choose Factory reset everything for a full reset. A picture/audio reset is a different option.

If you can't open the reset menu

Hardware resets vary. Roku-branded TVs may use a Reset button or Power plus Find My Remote. For a TCL, Hisense or another manufacturer's Roku TV, check that manufacturer's model instructions before holding any button.

After the reset

Complete Guided Setup, connect to the network, activate the TV with your Roku account and sign back into streaming services. Set up antenna channels and inputs again if needed.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Roku TV factory reset remove my account from the TV?

Yes. It unlinks the TV from its Roku account and clears its account information and apps. Have your account sign-in details available for setup afterward.

Is the on-screen reset code a universal remote code?

No. Use the confirmation code shown in the reset menu. Remote programming codes serve a different purpose.
