How to reset Fire TV

This guide is for a television with Fire TV built in, including supported Amazon and partner-brand smart TVs. If you use a Fire TV Stick in an HDMI port, the stick and television are separate devices.
01 · Start here
Restart before erasing your setup
- Open Settings → My Fire TV or Device & Software → Restart.
- Let the TV switch off and back on, then check the original problem.
02 · Factory reset
How to factory reset Fire TV
Before you confirm
A factory reset removes saved accounts, apps and personal settings from the TV. Have your Wi-Fi password and account sign-in details ready before you confirm it.
Fire TV Smart TV menu
Settings → My Fire TV or Device & Software → Reset to Factory Defaults
- Read the on-screen reset prompt and confirm when ready.
When the menu will not respond
Back + Right on the navigation ring (10 seconds)
- Hold Back and the right side of the navigation ring together for 10 seconds.
- Respond to the on-screen factory reset prompt. Only use this shortcut when you intend to erase the TV.
This is a factory reset shortcut, not the restart shortcut.
After the reset
Let the reset finish, then complete the on-screen setup and sign in again.
