How to reset Fitbit

Sources checked · how we check

Choose your Fitbit model before resetting. This guide covers Charge 5 and 6, Inspire 3, Luxe, and Sense or Versa erase menus. Older trackers have different procedures.

01 · Start here

Restart before erasing your setup

  1. Charge 5 or 6: swipe down from the clock, open Settings, then choose Restart Device and Restart.
  2. If a Charge 5 or 6 is frozen, connect its charging cable and press the charger button three times, one second apart. Wait 10 seconds or for the Fitbit logo.
  3. Sense or Sense 2: hold the watch button for 10 seconds and release when the Fitbit logo appears. Other models: use the matching section in Google's source.

02 · Factory reset

How to factory reset Fitbit

Before you confirm

Erasing clears personal device data. Save or sync what you need first. A normal restart keeps activity data; use it first for a frozen screen or sync problem.

Charge 5/6, Inspire 3 and Luxe

Settings → Device Info → Clear User Data

  1. Swipe down from the clock to open Settings. Select Device Info, then Clear User Data and complete the displayed prompts.

Sense and Versa series

Settings → About → Factory Reset

  1. Open Settings on the watch, select About and choose Factory Reset. Review and complete the on-screen confirmation.

Google lists a separate personal-data removal note for Versa Lite; check the source for that edition.

If you can't open the reset menu

If restarting does not restore access, contact support through Google's model guide. Do not insert a pin into sensor holes or use an older tracker's erase sequence.

After the reset

Set up the device again. If giving it away, also remove it from your account using the setup link in Google's erase guide.

Frequently asked questions

Does restarting a Fitbit erase activity data?
