Before you confirm

A factory reset deletes local data and removes apps. Check your backups and confirm you can sign into a Google account already on the phone.

Prepare, then select your manufacturer

  1. Know your screen PIN or password. If you changed the Google account password, wait 24 hours before resetting.
  2. Charge to at least 70% and arrange an internet connection for setup.
  3. Use the Samsung or Pixel guide below if it matches your phone. For other brands, follow the manufacturer's exact Settings reset instructions linked from Google's source.

There is no single recovery-button sequence for every Android phone.
