How to turn on Game Mode on a TV

Game Mode lowers the delay between your controller and the screen. Many TVs switch it on automatically when they detect a console; you can also turn it on yourself.
01 · Before you start
Check these first
- Samsung TVs detect Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One X/S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 and switch to Game Mode automatically.
- For 4K at 120 Hz on a Samsung TV, use the HDMI port marked with a game controller icon.
02 · Change the setting
Step by step, by device
Samsung TV: turn it on manually
Settings/123/Colors button → Quick settings → Game Mode → On
- Press the Settings, 123 or Colors button on the remote, depending on your remote.
- In Quick settings, select Game Mode and set it to On.
Samsung gives these steps for PCs; for game consoles, Game Mode normally turns on automatically.
Roku TV: turn it on manually
Star → Picture settings → Customize Picture → Game mode
- Press Star on the Roku TV remote.
- Select Picture settings → Customize Picture → Game mode, and turn it on.

Roku TV: automatic switching (ALLM)
Turn on ALLM in the console's settings
- In your console's settings, turn on Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM).
- The Roku TV switches modes automatically.
Roku says ALLM works on all 4K Roku TVs except models starting with 6. Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S use ALLM rather than automatic Game Mode detection.

If the setting doesn't change
If Game Mode doesn't turn on by itself on a Samsung TV, Samsung notes it may not activate automatically with some consoles; turn it on from Quick settings instead. Use the HDMI port marked with a game controller icon and an HDMI 2.1 cable for 4K at 120 Hz.
