How to turn audio description on or off on a TV

Sources checked · how we check

Audio description adds a voice that describes the action during pauses in dialogue. If a show suddenly has a narrator, it's usually this setting rather than the TV's screen reader.

01 · Before you start

Check these first

  1. Samsung says not all programs support audio descriptions; check the program guide for availability.
  2. If the TV reads out menus rather than describing the show, that's a screen reader instead: see the Samsung Voice Guide, Fire TV VoiceView or Roku screen reader guides.

With VoiceView on, press Menu twice.

If the setting doesn't change

Amazon says Audio Descriptions on Fire TV are available for select Prime Video titles. Other streaming apps have their own audio track settings, so if a narrator is still there, change the audio track inside the app you're watching.
