Before you start

A factory reset clears the remote's link to its TV box. Plan to pair it again afterward.

If the device still does not work

For another model, follow its section in Xfinity's support article rather than substituting one of these sequences.

After the reset

Pair again using Xfinity's model instructions. A new TV box must be activated first.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my XR16 have no 981 keys?

It uses the Info/Home and Power/Last/Volume Down sequence above, not numeric code entry.

Does a remote reset erase recordings?

These instructions reset the handset's connection; they do not direct you to reset the DVR or TV box.
