How to reset Sony headphones

These instructions cover WH-1000XM5. Do not apply the same button sequence to another Sony headset or earbud model without its manual.

Before resetting your device
- Connect the WH-1000XM5 by USB to charge, then press Power and NC/AMB together.
- To resume charging after the reset, unplug and reconnect the USB-C cable.
02 · Reset and reconnect
Reset and reconnect your Sony headphones
Before you start
Factory initialization clears settings and pairing information. Try the reset procedure first.
WH-1000XM5 factory initialization
Power off, USB unplugged → Power + NC/AMB
- Turn the headphones off and disconnect USB.
- Hold Power and NC/AMB for at least seven seconds. Four blue flashes indicate initialization.
After the reset
Delete the old Bluetooth entry, then pair the headphones again.
