How to reset Ring camera

These instructions cover Ring cameras. Use the separate doorbell guide for a doorbell, and do not apply these steps to Ring Alarm equipment.

01 · Start here

Before resetting your device

  1. In Ring, open Devices, choose the online camera and open Device Health.
  2. Confirm Reboot This Device and wait for startup. This app operation requires Wi-Fi.

02 · Factory reset

How to factory reset Ring camera

Before you confirm

A factory reset may require camera setup again in Ring.

Setup button → Hold for 20 seconds

  1. For Outdoor Cam, formerly Stick Up Cam, check inside the battery compartment. Ring locates other camera setup buttons on top; match your model.
  2. Hold the setup button for 20 seconds and release.

If you can't open the reset menu

For plug-in cameras, disconnect power for 10 seconds and reconnect. For removable-battery models, remove the battery for 10 seconds and reinsert.

After the reset

Follow any setup prompts in Ring.

Frequently asked questions

Can an offline camera reboot from the app?

The app reboot requires Wi-Fi. Use Ring's offline troubleshooting or the appropriate power cycle first.
