How to reset Nest camera

Choose the matching Nest Cam generation. The battery camera and original wired Indoor/Outdoor models have different reset methods.
01 · Start here
Before resetting your device
- Battery Nest Cam: connect power, then hold the rear button for five seconds and release at the steady white light.
- Original wired Indoor/Outdoor: unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds, then reconnect.
02 · Factory reset
How to factory reset Nest camera
Before you confirm
Factory reset permanently deletes video history and snapshots, clears settings and forgets Wi-Fi. Download needed clips first.
Nest Cam (battery)
Rear button → 12 seconds
- With power connected, hold the rear button. After the yellow countdown at 10 seconds, wait for steady yellow and the confirmation tone at 12 seconds, then release.
Original Nest Cam Indoor / Outdoor
Nest app → Camera → Settings → Remove device
- Select Remove device and confirm. These original models have no factory-reset button.
After the reset
Remove any offline entry left after a button reset, then run camera setup again.
Frequently asked questions

No. Save needed recordings before resetting.
