How to reset LG remote

The procedure below is for an LG Magic Remote with Home, Back and a centre scroll wheel. A standard infrared LG remote does not use this Magic Remote registration process.
01 · Start here
Before resetting your device
- Point the Magic Remote at the TV and press the centre wheel to try registration first.
- If registration fails, switch the TV off and back on, then retry.
02 · Reset and reconnect
Reset and reconnect your LG remote
Before you start
This cancels the Magic Remote's registration with the TV. Re-register it afterward; you do not need to erase the TV's apps or accounts.
Magic Remote with Home and Back buttons
Home + Back · 5 seconds
- Hold Home (Smart Home) and Back together for five seconds.
- Aim the handset at the TV and press the centre scroll wheel.
- Wait for the successful-registration message.
After the reset
Check pointer movement, wheel selection and ordinary navigation.
Frequently asked questions
Does this reset the LG television?
No. It unregisters and re-registers the Magic Remote. Reset to Initial Settings on the TV is a separate operation.
What if my remote has no Home or Back button?
Do not substitute a different button. Use the instructions for the exact remote model.
