How to connect a printer to Wi-Fi

Sources checked · how we check

Most printers join Wi-Fi from a setup wizard on their control panel: choose your network and type the password. Printers without a screen use the maker's app or the WPS button on your router.

01 · Before you start

Check these first

  1. Write down your Wi-Fi network name and password; both are case sensitive.
  2. Place the printer near the router while you set it up.
  3. Use your main network, not a guest network, which often blocks devices from reaching the printer.

If it still won't connect

If the printer won't connect, move it closer to the router, re-enter the password carefully, and disconnect from any VPN. Restoring the printer's network settings and starting again often clears an old connection.
