Read receipts let people see when you've read their messages. You can turn them off in WhatsApp's privacy settings.

Check these first
- If you turn read receipts off, you won't see read receipts from others either.
- WhatsApp says read receipts for group chats and play receipts for voice messages can't be turned off.
02 · Change the setting
Step by step, by device
Turn off read receipts
Settings → Privacy → Read receipts
- Open WhatsApp Settings and tap Privacy.
- Turn off Read receipts.
If the setting doesn't change
With read receipts off, WhatsApp says you might not see who views your status. Read receipts still work in group chats, and play receipts still show for voice messages.
