Before resetting your device
- Nest Thermostat and Learning Thermostat (4th gen): Settings → Restart. E and Learning (3rd gen or earlier): Settings → Reset → Restart. Confirm; settings are retained.
02 · Reset options
Reset options for Nest thermostat
Before you confirm
Record Equipment settings, heating type and safety temperatures before erasing. Ask your installer if you cannot restore the setup.
Wi-Fi only: E / Learning (3rd gen or earlier)
Settings → Reset → Network (where available)
- Reset Network to forget Wi-Fi credentials. Reconnect through Settings → Network.
Nest Thermostat / Learning (4th gen)
Settings → Factory reset
- Confirm to erase personal settings. Account unlinking is separate: Settings → Account → Disconnect.
E / Learning (3rd gen or earlier)
Settings → Reset → All settings
- Remove the thermostat from your account in the app first, then confirm All settings.
After the reset
After a factory reset, configure the thermostat and add it to the app again.
