How to reset ecobee thermostat

01 · Start here
Before resetting your device
- For ecobee3, gently pull the black thermostat body from its backplate, then reseat it. Do not pull the white trim plate or disturb wiring. Rebooting preserves configuration.

02 · Reset options
Reset options for ecobee thermostat
Before you confirm
Reset All restores factory defaults and removes registration. Record equipment settings first; use your installer if you cannot restore the HVAC configuration.
Registration only
Main Menu → Settings → Reset
- Select Reset Registration, then Yes. Equipment settings and preferences remain.

Factory reset
Main Menu → Settings → Reset
- Select Reset All, then Yes.

After the reset
After Reset All, complete equipment setup and registration again.
