How to reset eero

Sources checked · how we check

One eero reset button does three things: a tap reboots, a short hold is a soft reset, and a long hold is a hard reset. Make sure the eero has been on for at least 90 seconds with an internet connection first.

01 · Start here

Restart before erasing your setup

  1. Unplug the eero, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in.
  2. Or in the eero app, tap the eero on the Home tab → more options → Restart. To restart everything: Settings → Advanced networking → more options → Restart Network.

02 · Factory reset

How to factory reset eero

Before you confirm

A hard reset clears all user data and logs and removes the eero from your network. Removing the gateway eero takes your whole network offline.

Soft reset: keep settings

Reset button · until LED flashes yellow (8 seconds or less)

  1. Hold the reset button until the LED flashes yellow, no longer than 8 seconds, then release.
  2. The eero stays on your network and keeps its logs, IP reservations and port forwarding. It flashes white while reconnecting, then returns to solid white.

Hard reset

Reset button · until LED flashes red (about 15 seconds)

  1. Hold the reset button until the LED flashes red, about 15 seconds, then release.
  2. The LED flashes white, then keeps flashing blue when the eero is ready to set up again.

The button is on the bottom of eero, eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6, eero Pro 6E and eero 7, and on the back of eero Pro 7, eero Max 7, eero Pro and the 1st-generation eero.

Remove in the eero app

Home → eero → more options → Remove

  1. With an internet connection, removing an eero resets it to factory defaults, the same result as a hard reset.

If you can't open the reset menu

On a Ring Alarm Pro, a hard reset also resets the Ring Alarm platform, its configuration and connected Z-Wave devices. It has no soft reset.

After the reset

Add the eero back to your network in the eero app.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between an eero soft and hard reset?

A soft reset (LED flashes yellow) keeps the eero on your network with its settings. A hard reset (LED flashes red, about 15 seconds) erases it and removes it from the network.

Why is my eero flashing blue after a soft reset?

eero says it may have no internet connection, or may have been hard reset and need adding back in the app.
