What the light on an eero means

An eero has one light on the front. eero says it is solid white when everything is running correctly, unless you have turned it off. Anything else, a different colour or a flash, is a state with its own meaning below.

Working and setting up
Solid white
The eero is online.
What to do: Nothing. The light reports the eero's own state, so if it is white and a device still has no internet, look at that device and its Wi-Fi connection.

Flashing white
The eero is connecting.
What to do: Wait for it to go solid white.

Solid blue
The eero is ready for setup. eero says it also turns solid blue briefly once it pairs with the app.
What to do: Carry on in the eero app.
Flashing blue
The eero is searching for an internet connection. During setup that means it is broadcasting Bluetooth, ready for the eero app; after a soft reset without internet, it is trying to reconnect.
What to do: During setup, open the eero app and add the eero. After a reset, check the modem is online and its cable to the gateway eero is secure, restart the modem for 30 seconds, wait 2-3 minutes, then reconnect in the app.
Flashing green
Several eero devices have been identified.
What to do: Nothing.

Solid green
The eero is power saving.
What to do: Nothing.

Solid aqua
The eero is using hotspot internet.
What to do: Nothing, if you meant to. It is not on your normal connection.

Flashing aqua
The eero is identifying Zigbee devices.
What to do: Nothing.

Problems
Solid red
The eero is not receiving an internet connection. If every eero is red, eero says the connection into your primary eero is usually the problem.
What to do: If every eero is red, start with the modem and your internet service. If only one is, unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in; if the red returns on a wireless eero, move it closer to another eero, and on a wired one test its Ethernet cable with a laptop.
Flashing yellow or orange
There is a problem with the power supply.
What to do: Check the power adapter and the outlet.

Flashing red
The eero is resetting.
What to do: Leave it to finish.

No light
No power, or the LED has been turned off.
What to do: Check the LED setting in the eero app before treating a dark eero as a dead one. If the light is meant to be on and is not, check its power.

eero's table covers every state its routers and mesh eeros use. If your light does not match any of them, check whether the device is an eero Signal, which uses its colours differently.

Frequently asked questions
What does a red light on an eero mean?
The eero is not receiving an internet connection. If all your eeros are red, the connection into the primary eero is usually the problem, so start with the modem. If only one is red, unplug it for 30 seconds, then move it closer to another eero or check its Ethernet cable.
Why is my eero flashing blue?
It is searching for an internet connection. During setup that is normal: it is broadcasting Bluetooth for the eero app. After a soft reset it means it is trying to reconnect, and it goes back to solid white once the internet is back.
Why is my eero flashing yellow?
eero says a flashing yellow or orange light means a power supply problem. Check the adapter and the outlet.
Why does my eero have no light?
eero says no light means no power or that the LED is disabled. Check the LED setting in the eero app before assuming the unit is dead.
